abita springs parade

REGISTRATION DEADLINE EXTENDED
BECAUSE OF WEATHER

You must register and accepted to be in the Push Mow parade.
A limited number of floats will be accepted.
The parade starts and ends at the Trail Head Museum.
The FREE Push Mow Party will be at the Trail Head after the parade.

Food and beverages will be available during the party.

The three main rules of this parade are: decorate, decorate, decorate.

Examples of the good, bad and ugly.

In keeping with the original idea of having decorative floats and creative marchers, the organizers of Push Mow want to encourage those who wish participate to get their glue guns out.

A pickup truck can be decorated with little effort. Get a wide roll of paper - paint it - scribble words on it - glue some glitter on it - and add whatever, plastic flowers, plastic milk jugs, old clothes, bamboo, whatever.

Please be careful! Decorating a float with razor wire and poison darts is not a good idea. Do not have things dangle from the side that someone will want to grab.

On some of these photos the faces have been blurred. Some of these photos are not from a Push Mow parade.

The Push Mow parade was started by artists in Abita Springs for the purpose of having a decorative parade. These artists thought it would be funny pushing decorated lawn mowers in a parade - thus the name "Krewe of Push Mow".

ALL RIDERS INCLUDING CHAPERONES must be in costume!

GRADE: F

This "float" is not decorated enough.
The riders are not in costume.

GRADE: D

One home made sign plus store bought metallic fringe is not enough decoration. Riders have no costumes.
GRADE: D

Having a live band is a plus but remember -
decorate, decorate, decorate.
GRADE: A

Great costumes and decoration.
GRADE: D

Bumper stickers are not enough decoration.
Costumes kept this float from an even lower grade.
GRADE: A

We are not sure what it is but it works for us. Decorating the wagon and the machine a little more would have made it an "A+"
GRADE: C+

Bad - no costumes. Good - lots of bamboo decoration.
GRADE: F

Children sitting on the side of a boat is dangerous.

GRADE: B

Nice coordinated attire but lacking originality

GRADE: F-

This is a car with a dangling strand of beads - dangerous and ugly.
GRADE: A

Costumes, decorations, they have it all.
